Sixth grade marks the beginning of middle school and a new range of experiences and expectations. The academic environment changes as students are now more able to analyze topics, think critically, read more advanced material, and express themselves in extended essays. As bodies mature and emotions play their role in adolescent development, the school provides opportunities for hands-on inquiry-based learning, projects, and physical activity. Students can choose to participate in sports tournaments, band and orchestra concerts, and drama productions. Exploratory learning is provided through elective courses each quarter. Specialists teach your child Mandarin Chinese, art, music, physical education, and library skills. Each has a vital part in your child’s week.
